OK I figure I will catch Hell for this one, but I heard rumors after Jerry's death that The Grateful Dead and Jimmy Buffett were planning to tour together in '96. Now what kind of party would you get mixing Deadheads and Parrotheads?

I woulda been there in a tie-dyed shark fin.

Really great idea!

I'd like to hear Jerry with a great female blues or jazz vocalist singing lead against his guitar. Etta Jones, Billie Holiday, Norah Jones....

What about Joni and the Dead? Why did that never happen? Jerry and Phil instead of Metheny and Pastorius on the Shadows and Light tour? Well why not!

Sorry. I loved Joni Mitchell. Saw her numerous times from twanging the dulcimer the Troubadour by herself to the Mingus stuff in Marconi Aud. She didn't have five rock'n'roll genes in her whole body. And as far 'Me and My Uncle', well......she sure was cute.

To be honest I was thinking more of Garcia and Lesh playing Joni songs rather than Joni singing the Dead stuff. I think that could have worked out pretty nicely.

Agree absolutely, JG crooning with Joni would be sublime. His guitar on Hejira would have been even more magical.

Or Yoko in place of Donna... Just imagine HER during the big scream in "Playin'"...

Those are two of the worst Donna replacement recommendations I have ever heard. I assume Yoko is a joke, but Natalie Merchant? Decent voice, I guess, but she shows almost no emotion. Everything is delivered in the flattest tone possible. Zzzzzzz.

Maria Muldaur? Plus Jerry loved singing to her.

I heard that too. That would have been tough to pull off because of the different fans bases, ect but personally since I love both it would have been awesome.
